It's too much

I am not an amazing mother in the sense of always staying calm and resilient no matter what.

I might be, and I’ve been seen to be but behind the conveniently locked doors of the pandemic, I can assure you, I was not always that resilient and calm.
I can be volcanic. Hot and very bothered. Mental hot Ash clouds included. Oh - and the floor is lava!

It turns out that when it’s too much, one possibility is to get really angry. So we can adjust to the ‘too-muchness’, we can expand our capacity. When you’re like me, you do both of those as much as possible and then some, but at the end of the day, it is what it is, and your kids will learn that life and behaviours are not always optimal.

I’ve been told that openly speaking about this and demonstrating openness about it makes all the difference. We don’t let the Beast be the only voice in the room. But neither do we deny her existence. Limitations are the ground for inspirational stories: Nobody comes from; “I had everything, there was choice and no trouble, and then I did the phenomenal”. It’s usually a limiting circumstance that propels our creativity and will to grow and change...

So with that said: what is too much... ? If 'it is too much'- it really is a scarcity thought. Because "too much" translates to "not enough space for me" - and that is a place we can work with...
