HOW TO STAND OUT.

HOW TO STAND OUT.

May 08, 2023

My friend works for a reactive cleaning company. She needs to sell the service and wants to win at networking and stage presentations.

If I think of reactive cleaning, I see myself having a freak out over a glass of spilt juice over the carpet. Shouting “Do you think mummy wants to do more work? Clean that up!!!” and running to get the sponge and towels myself in the end fuming.

No, that’s not what it is.

After a 2 minute explanation of what it entails, I understand it’s a very important job doing what most people would hate to think about. Way worse than cleaning toilets. Disinfecting after COVID patients, dead people or big damages.

How do you become instantly unforgettable in a way that has people want to call you?

I suggested saying this:
Let’s say there’s been an office fire. There is debris and ashes everywhere, your cleaners can’t work as there are no desks to wipe. Who are you going to call?

There is a sewage spill and everything is flooded, it stinks, it needs to get cleared up fast, who are you going to call?

A dead body has been discovered in a flat after weeks - or as you heard on the news in one case - years. Disintegrating into the sofa. Who are you going to call?

We are the Ghostbusters of the cleaning industry. 👻

I know you will NEVER forget this example. #unforgettable
Because I’ve given you stories that become movies in your mind.

I did 2 things: Firstly I engaged the senses with descriptive words that created a scene and second, I connected the scene to one that you are familiar with - the Ghostbuster movies.

When you create stories for your brand, your work- you communicate in a way that creates an experience - emotions in another human's mind. This is how you become influential. Powerful. Memorable. Stand out.
