A DREAM is not necessarily something we'd like in "real".

Jan 10, 2023

A big house means big maintenance. Lots of cleaning. You might need more staff and manage that staff. It's great to have people working for and with you but it's not as effortless as it sounds. (At least not at first)⠀

That idyllic family image of you all running down the sand dunes is just a snapshot. We don't see the 20min tantrum because Teddy fell into the puddle, the last pair of trousers being pooped into and wrecking your new shoes when changing it, the sleepless nights and differences in vaccination ideologies - we don't see that in the photo, we don't see that in the dream.⠀

How much importance do you put on living this dream life and how much judgment weighs upon you for not living the dreamy aspects so much? You know that we don't actually live in social media updates and highlights, right? Or have you forgotten? Sometimes, I do.⠀

In a world where so much seems accessible, it's easy to feel entitled to the possibilities. I see it, it's possible, therefore I should have it. But this doesn't take into account one important factor. YOU. Your values, deep beliefs, hidden desires, unique quirks, energy levels, history and willingness to be present.⠀

You won't achieve all you set out. Fact. I am not being pessimistic. If you know me, you know how hopelessly optimistic I am.⠀

And I'm all for dream lives. But I'm even more interested in seeing real lives being experienced as wonderful. I'm interested in creating dreams, limitless possibilities- yes! AND can we do that appreciating the chaos on the way? Can we do that and feel our humanity. Can we do that and realise it's not all about the dream? It's about the LIFE. The being alive. That stuff.
